[Husker] Spring Game

Mother Nature never smiled on the Spring Game during
the Solich years. I remember a couple of them were on
cold, wet days. In 2003, I remember feeling really
lucky to find a couple of seats underneath the balcony
so I'd stay dry.
Suddenly in 2004, the weather turned for whatever
reason. The sun shone for every single one of those
games, and the weather was outstanding. That tends to
bring people out.
As does selling tickets in advance. If you've already
purchased tickets, you're more likely to attend the
game and make sure that you don't find something else
to do.
I've never looked at the spring game as a
"competitive" game...but rather as a scouting
opportunity. I'm looking for players that catch my
eye. I remember being impressed by a walk-on
defensive end named Stewart Bradley in 2003. I
remember being more impressed by Eric Crouch than
Bobby Newcombe in 1998. I remember being impressed by
Tommie Frazier's passing and Brook Berringer's running
in 1995 as both players pushed each other.
And with the weather forecast looking to be nearly
perfect (about 70 and sunny), I'm also looking forward
to introducing my daughter to "foot bah" (as she calls
it). I think kids are a big reason to enjoy the
spring game. Tickets are cheap (and free to many
kids), which makes it a low risk situation. Maybe
we'll even get a chance to let her run around on the
field a little at halftime.
