I'm sad (though not surprised) to hear that the Omni is not being supported.

We put in an Aegis when we built the house in 1996, then replaced it
in 2003 when the first one was zapped by lightning, and replaced that with
an Omnii II a few years ago when the Aegis failed.

I'm hoping we can get another 15 or so years out of it before we have to
find a replacement.

Most of the newer systems seem to be wireless, which has mixed blessings.
The main reason we went with the Aegis in the first place in 1996 was
the voice capabiity, and I'm not sure what's out there that has that
capability.

Ours is a large house, over 7000 square feet on 3 floors with 7 exterior
doors plus 2 doors into the garage area from outside, so having the doors
announce when they're opened is very helpful, because you can be pretty
far away from a door when it is opened. The interface between the Omni
and our Vantage Home Automation system is also helpful, when doors open
it triggers lights.

Hopefully some company will decide that high end houses are a viable
market.
