[Hai-users] HAI panel - IP communicator compatibility questions / suggestions

Thanks Scott,
I'm aware of the ABA from Next...
But this did not answer the question(s) below about how I can maintain
the HAI functionality of voice-synthesized calls / notifications via
telephone AND have central station monitoring.
I am considering whether to precede each voice synthesized
notification attempt with an output setting which would drive a DPDT
relay which would switch the HAI telephone line from the ABA (or cell
or whatever) to a standard VoIP line to make the voice synthesized
call, then switch back to the ABA when done.
I still cannot figure out why HAI would not just be able to make an IP
connection to a monitoring station and dump the info all over the
internet without going through this barbaric ancient technology of
tone-signaling. It would seem a simple feature to embed in the
control firmware to encode appropriate packets. And equally only
some simple code on a PC to be able tro receive the alarm signals and
deal with them at central monitoring. How long will it take to drag
the alarm industry into the modern age???
Anyway, pardon the rant... Any thoughts or product advice would be appreciated.
One thing that I have observed... the HAI central station reporting
does not seem to care whether a dialog/session is in progress with a
user via phone before seizing the line and just making a second or
subsequent central station calls. That would be a little difficult to
handle with a relay/telephone line switching implementation like I
have suggested.
