Subject: NO CONTROLLER DATA
In the past I have on rare occasions seen this message on one of the
consoles, however as of late, it has gotten much worse. There have not been
changes to the system or to any of the wiring.
System is OmniPro II with firmware 2.5E.[Sam] Now using 2.16, no change in
behavior System has been running fine, with only an occasional NO
CONTROLLER DATA message when reloading program changes via PC Access
2.4.[Sam] Now using 2.17, with no change. There are three consoles, and
one expansion cabinet. Each console has a unique address. Consoles show a
firmware? of 11A03-1, ver. 1.1. The consoles are from the original HMS 1050
OnQ system, and have worked fine for some 3 years after upgrade to OmniPro
II
I have been chasing the problem, assuming it is a physical layer issue. The
RS485 signal is 4 volts in amplitude. All consoles are home run, as is the
expansion enclosure. Lately the system would operate with only two of the
consoles, now it seems to only want one. Does not matter which console, or
which console location. All have been swapped around. Wiring is cat 5
about 50 ft to each console location. The expansion cabinet is ground
connected to the controller via 50 ft 14 gauge.[Sam] Controller is
connected to power entrance ground via 50 of 10 gauge.
At one point during testing, it appeared as if the system would work better,
without the error message, if one side of the A/B was not connected. This
prompted me to check for any grounds on the A/B conductors. I also checked
for pair balance. No issues found.
I have noted three different messages, NO CONTOLLER DATA, NO CONTROLLER
DATA00, and NO CONTROLLER DATA01.
As I travel a great deal, the Omni has been a stable security system for me,
but I am now concerned. I have had one occasion when I returned home,
system was in AWAY mode, and went into a NO CONTOLLER DATA mode, which of
course makes it impossible to disarm the system from the keypad. I had to
run to system and power down as it was now in alarm state. I suspect I could
have called it via phone, or used a house phone now that I have considered
my options.
I was reviewing the archives and it appears there was a spat of NO
CONTROLLER DATA issues, that looked as if there was no definitive solution,
with some speculation that it may have been a processor resource issue. If
that is the case than it would make sense since I have exhausted everything
I can think of at the physical layer.[Sam] I have about 200 lines of code
in my program.
Looking to any and all for suggestions!
