[Hai-users] Upgrading to UPB

According to PCS the inventors of UPB, only 8% of installs required a phase
coupler.
I have done jobs big to small, and have not needed one yet. The largest was
an 8ksf building with a detached 1ksf guest house about 200 feet apart.
Around 175 UPB Devices and they worked flawlessly.
I would check the electrical outlet your HAI is plugged into, does it have a
surge suppressor, or the Leviton hospital grade switches (they have
suppression). Try using an extension cord and plugging the PIM into another
outlet in the same room (if possible) as the light switches.
Assuming you have multiple switches and do need a phase coupler, some
switches would still work, some wouldn't.

As far as I understand, UPB needs a phase coupler, and that could be the
problem.
Someone can correct me.

Gentlemen
I am upgrading after three years to UPB. Things have been good up till now.
I installed the new firmware, switches and PIM. I can tell through web link
that signals are going out since the PIM flashes red. I set the switches to
learn and go to the controller and do the 6 > 1 to discover the switch and
it fails. I set Serial port 3 to UPB. House Code 1 to HLC Lighting through
the controller keypad since my PC Access is end user 2.7 (ugh).
I got a UPB training pdf file from Worthington that explains setting up HLC
lighting for the units. That's what I don't understand. How that
connection works since I don't have any keypads yet. I did not add a
coupler yet since I thought UPB did not need one but I should get something
to recognize right? I'm getting one on order now.
Any ideas?
Thanks
