[Hai-users] question about flush mount remote temp sensor

I have installed several of these. Most have been short wire runs and there
has not been any other wires running near them. I usually use shielded
cable. The shield is to protect against EMI (stray signals from nearby
wires) if there is no wires within 12 inches I would think you should be
fine.
The second part of the equation is you will have to adjust the thermostats
settings. The wall takes longer to adjust to the temperature so you will
need to adjust the anticipation settings (these settings are to turn off the
heat a degree or two before actually reaching the desired temperature as to
not swing passed the desired temp), and you may need to adjust the
calibration on the thermostat. I have installed these flush (actually
countersunk so they are flush to the surface, the ridge is to hold it in
place). The calibration settings are to adjust what the display shows for a
comfortable room temp. Once the temp is stable and where they like it may
read higher or lower than what they think it is. I.E. they like 70 but the
stat reads 68. Calibrate it to what you feel is usually more correct than
using a Fluke meter to calibrate it to actual temps.
The more material that is on top of the sensor the more fine tuning you will
need to do.

Subject: [Hai-users] question about flush mount remote temp sensor
I'm getting ready to connect a flush mount remote temp sensor (model
23a00-2)
so that I can move my tstat to get rid of some wall clutter. For this room,
I would like to mount the tstat on the other side of the wall where it is
currently, which puts the tstat in the closet; in this case, the wire run
between the sensor and the tstat will only be about 6" or so.
Do I still need to use a shielded cable in this case since the run is so
short? Would a piece of CAT5 work just as well and if so, do I still need
to
connect anything to the black wire (which is supposed to be the shield)?
oh...and I assume you can paint over the metal disc, correct? Is it OK to
also wallpaper over the disc?
thanks
