[Hai-users] Omni IIe, ADICOM CPU, Relays and X10

There is an issue with using two devices on one TW-523 (PSC-05). We came
across this issue when developing the Chameleo X10/UPB bi-directional
translator we are now shipping.
The problem is, it works in the beginning. However over time, the two
transmitters will slowly decay the x-10 output of each other. Because when
HAI (or ADICON) transmit the X-10 it goes to the TW-523 and the transmit
output line of the ADICON (or HAI). It will slowly damage the X-10 transmit
driver in the hardware of each product, they are designed to transmit and
not receive. The fix is easy, you add a diode inline of the transmit
device. To keep things simple for my customers, I built a patch cable to
prevent the damage and sell it for $20. I don't recall the web address
there is a site that discusses this procedure you may be able to Google it,
but if you are comfortable with a soldering iron, it should cost you about
$10 in parts and 15-20 minutes in time to build one yourself.

Subject: Re: [Hai-users] Omni IIe, ADICOM CPU, Relays and X10
Thanks to those who responded directly. Once I get the Omni IIe Wireless
Receiver straightened out (showing up), I'll work on the CPU/XA ProLink
interface. There aren't many messages in the Omni IIe, so some cleverness
has been suggested.
Also, the ADICOM heavy-duty relay units are documented to suggest that you
need to send the following sequence to activate them via X-10:
1. Send Housecode+Zero
2. Send Housecode+19 (for ON).
Does this mean you can onl;y use these relays with a CPUXA because of the
way it sends X10, or does X10 really have codes like 19, 20, etc?
I'm not sure how to send this with an HAI controller, if it is even
possible. Or maybe a an Omni IIe "unit" set to ON already does this?
Finally, has anyone used a telephone line splitter to have more than one X10
unit, like the Omni or an ADICOM Relay, share the same TW523 X10 interface?
Not an issue, right?
Thanks!
