Hi Andy, I have had to two failures, both due to corrosion. These failures for me happened at the red
power wire that goes into the circuit board. It looks fine from the outside, and at first the sensor was
acting in an intermittent nature before totally failing. I had two problems, #1 was a squirrel/mouse ate the
cat 3 wire I was using. Once that was replaced it still would not power up. I traced it down to the power wire.
As I said, it looked fine, but closer examination revealed the protective coating was all that was holding the wire to the
circuit board. Since you cannot get underneath the board to re solder the wire on, I just followed the trace to the first component
on the board (which is a diode), scraped off the protective coating and soldered to it. All is fine.
Hope thats all that is wrong with yours.

And (different location), I have another outdoor temperature sensor failure.
Has anyone come up with an after market solution? Has there ever been an
analysis to find out what fails? I know this group has had previous
discussions. Essential Home Systems sold about 30, and we've replaced a
very high percentage. Strangely enough, I've never replaced the one at my
house (almost 5 years).
