[Hai-users] DSL installation

If it were a "conventional" monitored alarm system, the industry makes a
special filter that's rather inexpensive and very effective. With an HAI
system and it's valuable telephone interface, I have not had success using
the security industry device. This will also improve the performace of your
DSL.

I may be wrong, but I think the only solution is a DSL splitter. The DSL
Splitter (OnQ has one), takes the incoming phone line (from demarcation) and
splits it into a DSL jack (unfiltered for your modem to plug in) and a
filtered jack to go to the rest of the house. Going to the rest of the
house would of course go the the HAI system first. If your modem is located
at your computer (rather than in the basement) and your phone lines are
looped, you're out of luck, and you'll have to do some rewiring.

Subject: [Hai-users] DSL installation

I'm trying to install Verizon DSL at home. Do I need to put a filter on the
phone line that connects to the OMNI II inside the box, which BTW is not a
standard phone connector plug? It is wider plug. Is that connection in
"series" with the rest of the phones in the house? If I disconnect the plug
inside the box, the house phones lose the dial tone. Would putting the
filter in that line, be equivalent to putting a filter in the modem line?
Thanks for any input

	Edgar
