[NU Sports] Ho hum ....

Men's Lacrosse is more closely patterned after the old Iroquois form of war, where they
played over a long distance and could hit each other with the sticks.

The Women's game evolved from Field Hockey, as I recall, at least it did in Carle Place,
NY when I was in HS (1960's).

Our Field Hockey team was so good at playing Lacrosse in the Spring, nobody would play
them. Of course nobody came out to watch either (including me).

As with Field Hockey, the Woman's game is a supposed to be a little more Gentile,
emphasizing speed and position instead of brute force when you compare it to the men's
game.

BTW - at one time, Syracuse football players also played Lacrosse in the Spring to stay in
shape. Jimmy Brown, the noted fullback was also a major player for 'cuse back in the 50's,
but the game never really caught on outside of the ACC and the Northeast.

It’s a neat game, harder to play than it looks, and has entirely too much running for this
guy.

The calls didn't appear one-sided, though. (But the Cats were sure winning the draws.)

I'm watching the men's lacrosse championship game this afternoon, in some ways there
appears to be more differences in the rules than similarities with the women's game.
