I would suggest that Fitz recruiting efforts and Persa's injury had something to do with
the increase in traffic last 2 years.

AND there seems to be more news stories in the Chicago papers now - more conversation
starters, and more things to have an opinion on as the Cats finally became Chicago's Team.

Subject: [NU Sports] List Statistics

Waiting patiently for the 2012-13 Football season to get here, I came up with some stats
(thanks to Mikes list archive)

Football (I typically assumed a 5 month window, August-December)

04-05 6-6 no bowl 228 list posts per month
05-06 7-5 Sun Bowl 339 list posts per month
06-07 4-8 no bowl 257 list posts per month
07-08 6-6 no bowl 260 list posts per month
08-09 9-4 Alamo Bowl 320 list posts per month
09-10 8-5 Outback Bowl 309 list posts per month
10-11 7-6 Ticket Bowl 350 list posts per month
11-12 6-7 Texas Bowl 427 list posts per month

That's 87% growth over 7 years.

Basketball (I used a 3 month window, January-March. In many cases, January posts were a
mix of Bowl talk and Basketball talk)

04-05 15-16 8th nothing 58 list posts per month
05-06 14-15 8th nothing 189 list posts per month
06-07 13-18 10th nothing 188 list posts per month
07-08 8-22 11th nothing 111 list posts per month
08-09 17-14 9th NIT rd 1 269 list posts per month
09-10 20-14 7th NIT rd 1 304 list posts per month
10-11 20-13 8th NIT quarters 210 list posts per month
11-12 19-14 7th NIT rd 2 388 list posts per month

Off Season (I went with 4 months, April-July. Womens Lacrosse was battling for the
National title in each of these years)

05 61 list posts per month
06 141 list posts per month (RW passed on 6/29, which led to much list traffic)
07 76 list posts per month
08 51 list posts per month
09 66 list posts per month
10 125 list posts per month
11 103 list posts per month

I am not quite sure what accounts for higher list traffic in 2010 and 2011. I will have
to read further.
Certainly the list appears to be very healthy, especially during football season.
