[NU Sports] FW: Buckeyes to semester system

Always taking tests? Welcome to K-12 education in America these days. :) Pre-assessments, achievement tests, benchmark tests, state tests, national tests, midterms, finals and more!
I didn't like the timing for summer jobs, but otherwise, I loved the tri-mester system NU had. It allowed for a great variety of courses during the year -- and I didn't feel too over-tested, as midterms weren't a huge thing in most of the courses I took (granted, I stayed away from Tech as much as possible).
I think if NU would just move the start/end dates back to match most other colleges (which I guess would be a problem for Christmas vacation and spring break), the system would be perfect.
Besides, I never, ever EVER want to have us basing any decision in our university based on what dOSU does! :)
GO CATS!!!

The main thing I remember about the quarter system was that you're always taking exams. You finish finals, then you're taking midterms again just a few weeks later.

Professors need to change their courses to gear for 18 weeks vs 12. It might be easy for a year of physics or calculus but not for a one quarter course. Their calender of actually teaching classes changes and would likely need their approval (or union).

Obviously schools do it, but not without a bunch of dislocations (By the way,my dad ,who was an OSU grad in the 30's and a Chemistry major, used to tell me how much harder he thought the quarter system was,but that it instilled good academic discipline)
