You're correct; Carmody himself said that it runs beyond next season, but
refused to say how much longer (said that he only tells recruits & their
parents):

In any case, it's clearly telling that there was no extension (as there
usually seems to be when these kind of announcements are made and the coach
is staying around). This truly looks like his final chance.
