That was on the Trib page too - You have to wonder what is going on in the Basketball
office.

If you mean Southern Illinois :), Channel 5 in Chicago reported last night that Weber
would be returning there.

Just wondering...if Chris Collins is being seriously considered should the NU
coaching position open up, why wouldn't Tavaras Hardy also be a candidate?
Neither have head coaching experience, which I think is a serious liability, but
Hardy has the advantage of the NU pedigree.

I recall his name being bantered about the list earlier this year, but no one
seems to be raising it now. Is he being held responsible for the lack of our
big men's development, or is there another reason?

As far as I can see, the only potential negative on Collins is lack of Head
Coaching experience. His pedigree is impeccable, and I would thinkhis father's
high profile and connections throughout the NBA would have to be of some real
value in recruiting. Collins will not end up at Illinois, as the pressure to
finally hire a head coach of color is probably paramount in their AD's calculus,
as reported in today's Trib.

If we make a move, and I remain very conflicted in my own thought process, I
think Collins would be a sensational choice. I like the idea of teaming him
with Fitz -- as the young, photogenic, well-educated, passionate and articulate
faces of NU and it's athletic program -- along with Kelly Amonte Hiller, of
course. I also would like to move away from the Princeton offense and the 1-3-1
defense to see a more eclectic approach at both ends of the court.
