[NU Sports] Greenstein: sources say Chris Collins would take NU job, if open; 1 says he prefers it over Illinois

As far as I can see, the only potential negative on Collins is lack of Head Coaching experience.  His pedigree is impeccable, and I would thinkhis father's high profile and connections throughout the NBA would have to be of some real value in recruiting.  Collins will not end up at Illinois, as the pressure to finally hire a head coach of color is probably paramount in their AD's calculus, as reported in today's Trib.  

If we make a move, and I remain very conflicted in my own thought process, I think Collins would be a sensational choice.  I like the idea of teaming him with Fitz -- as the young, photogenic, well-educated, passionate and articulate faces of NU and it's athletic program -- along with Kelly Amonte Hiller, of course.  I also would like to move away from the Princeton offense and the 1-3-1 defense to see a more eclectic approach at both ends of the court.
