As I wrote to Willie and Alan offline last night, I would love to see NU go after Shaka Smart, notwithstanding tough loss yesterday to IU down the stretch. I think Illini will go hard after him, both because he is great young coach with Final Four experience and background in Midwest (growing up outside of Madison, WI) and also because there will be a lot of pressure to hire first African-American head coach in school's history. Thus, there could well be an opening to woo Chris Collins, who could be a great fit at NU.

Both of these guys should be seriously considered by Morty and Jim--if they decide to make a move. I want to make clear that although I stated belief that it may be time for Coach Carmody to go, I am conflicted on the issue, and I think it is a very close call.

P.S.: Got the new iPad yesterday. My first added App was ESPN, and my second was March Madness live. I have to pick my son up at Newark Airport tonight, and I can bring games with me on 4G connection. Amazing! If only ' Cats were playing.:-(
