Quite simply, UW looked like a better team tonight than any NU team in memory. Shurna was a one-man band, it seemed, but for a couple of Marcotullio treys. And Shurna looked like the only guy who could even make it onto the other team's roster. Cobb and Crawford never got going and Hearn and Sobo were unable to do anything on offense, a far cry from when they were big contributors to the offense when the Cats were having their best stretches of the season. When the Cats were able to stop UW on defense, offensive rebounds over and over gave the home team more chances that usually proved fruitful. The 11 turnovers in the first half were more than NU averages in a game...then in the second half, the Cats' shooting was way off and the Huskies beat 'em to just about every loose ball and played and shot confidently, unlike the visitors.
An ignominious end to the season...
A big thanks to Shurna for a career beyond equal in NU annals and for the heart and class he always showed. And to him and the other seniors for their efforts during a time that had more success than any before for NU.
The team never reached the NCAAs, but gave us plenty to enjoy and had a lot about which it can be proud.
