[NU Sports] NU 19th on list of 25 schools who spend the mostmoney on football

Penn State has 25 sports teams on the College Park campus alone and others 
on their satellite campuses all over the state.  Of them all, it's likely 
that football (I don't think any of the satellites has football) - and maybe 
men's basketball - are the only sports that show a profit, although women's 
basketball may have seen a profit this season.  That is at least twenty-two 
sports (that includes cheerleading) that need financial support from that 
big football profit on the main campus alone.

They have to pay for all those other sports somehow...

But what does State Penn do with all of their "profits" or is that one of 
the problems up
in Happy Valley.

Don't know what goes into the number, but if it includes the cost of the 
scholarships,
then it does make some sense.

I thought it was interesting that the football program is bringing in more 
than $8M
profit.
