What I read the article as saying is that he was targeting players closer
to the minimum standard for Ivy League acceptance than his predecessors,
which is not quite the same thing as being granted lower admission
standards than for non-athletes.

The article also raises some red flags, implying he has been skirting 
if not breaking NCAA rules.
