Another reason to hope that Jerry Palm has it right, and that Joe Lunardi doesn't--when it comes to predicting 'Cats in a "play-in" game at Dayton. President Obama is taking British Prime Minister Cameron to Dayton for the games: http://espn.go.com/mens-college-basketball/tournament/2012/story/_/id/7663058/barack-obama-take-david-cameron-ncaa-tournament-game
If somehow we get in, think of the publicity angles--here's my Top 10:
1) 'Cats first appearance ever at the Dance. Prez likes to dance, but Mrs. Prez (Michelle) really likes to boogie.
2) President is from Chicago.
3) President's brother-in-law, Craig Robinson, used to coach at NU, and played at Princeton, Carmody's prior gig.
4) Bergan Evans, the late famous Professor at NU of, what else, "English"..
5) Susan Page, former Editor of DAILY NORHWESTERN (when I worked briefly writing sports for the DAILY)--Chief White House Correspondent for USA Today, covering the Prez daily.
6) Prez likes Wilbon (I presume).
7) PM Cameron, a graduate of Oxford, the "Northwestern of Great Britain".
8) 'Cats got in on the "bubble". Prez currently on the "bubble", in terms of reelection prospects.
9) NU planning for big overhaul of athletic facilities. Prez urging Congress to pass his "infrastructure" bill.
10) NU students wish Welsh-Ryan had the tradition of Cameron Indoor Stadium. Well, now we would have the "real" Cameron indoors at our big game. Top that one, Dookies!
OK, gang, now don't we all want to see NU "back in" to the Dance after all?
