[NU Sports] MSU drubs Ioway

We need a lot of breaks, in the form of losses by other "bubble" teams, and also a paucity of upsets in the conference tournaments. Then maybe we can sneak into Dayton.
The parallel is my other football passion--the J-E-T-S, who "backed into" the AFC Playoffs 2 years ago, and then went all the way to the AFC Championship.
Believe me, I enjoyed every moment of that run, and did not feel guilty or unworthy--and I know all about guilt--I'm Jewish.:-)
So if somehow this ends up a "near-death" experience, not the heart-stabbing one I now regard it as, we should take it as a karmic dividend for all of our suffering.
Life is not fair, Harry--especially if NU is your alma mater, as we all know too well and as Darren Rovell memorialized today in verse. I don't want fair at this point. I admit it--I want in.
Thus, tonight my chant is "Go Big Blue"--for starters.

I would think for all the reasons Scott mentioned The Committee would "want" to put us in if they can point to any justification
That doesn't mean we shouldn't view such a happening as charity. I would certainly "take" it, even if I would feel it wasn't fair

OK, call me crazy, but I have an intuition. IF things play out OK this
weekend and there are sufficient slots available (obviously a big if), I
think NU has a decent shot at one of the last spots for a play-in game. It
still counts as making the tourney, you know. I think the committee, which
has to have pressure from the networks, will want an interesting marquee
game for Tuesday night play-ins. An NU team (who can provide the RPI for
justification) playing in its first-ever NCAAs, a Big Ten rep and the
Chicago market to boot -- seems like a big story that would be
irresistable. I think if it comes down to NU or a mid-major that is fairly
comparable, NU goes.
