[NU Sports] FW: Bruce Weber/Illini stat very unlike NU situation

Clearly the expectations at Illinois are much higher than they are at
NU.

So I'm not surprised that Weber is gone. He recruited a great team that
should have made a run at a BT championship. The players share some
responsibility for the outcome, but Weber is the guy who failed here.
He knew what he had coming in and was unable to take this group of
basketball prima donnas and turn them into a team.

Carmody's recruiting, on the other hand, has to be described as quirky
at best. He has said as much himself.

He gets good kids and they did play their hearts out, but he failed them
too. He taught them a system that they could win with, but he failed to
teach them HOW to win with it. The players, like Illinois, share some
responsibility here - but they are all kids. Carmody is the adult,
their coach, and their teacher. They were unprepared to deal with the
pressures that they faced in their run to the NCAA and it was that fear
of loss that ultimately was on display for all to see.

Illinois coach Bruce Weber won nine NCAA tournament games, but never a
national title. The Illini have the most wins (39) without winning an
NCAA Championship.
