[NU Sports] If you haven't already read it...

I think that I went through all of the stages of grief last night.
I've made it to acceptance, but I haven't been able to read the various
email threads regarding the game. Maybe I'll be able to get to them
later. Right now it is just too painful. So I apologize if some of
this has been covered in other messages.
I was able to read this article this morning and think that it is pretty
much on target.
These kids just weren't ready to compete at crunch time.
They played as if they had everything to lose rather than something
historic to win.
At the end of the day, the head coach has to take responsibility for his
kids being in this mental state.
This is no different from Bruce Weber failing to get his divas to play
as a team.
It is the coach's responsibility to get his team ready to play.
It is also the coach's responsibility to help teams grow in their
understanding of what it takes to win games.
Shurna did grow in his understanding of his role coming down the
stretch, but just one key stat is that NU ended up being 0-3 in OT.
Clearly Shurna just wasn't able to consistently fill the role of a late
game closer.
The operative question at the end of the day is who takes responsibility
for that - Shurna or Carmody?
Jeff
