[NU Sports] Tough noogies

I can remember talking with Randy Walker after a couple of 6-6 seasons. I
seem to remember that he was planning to take steps to improve on that
because. 500 was not satisfactory. (I can probably find the exact quote
somwhere in my archives)

I sense Fitz is of the same opinion for the future.

Here's a longer article with some quotes from officials around the country
on possibly (re-)instating the "winning record" requirement for bowl games:

http://www.cbssports.com/collegefootball/story/17622358/if-bowl-eligibility-j
umps-to-seven-wins-which-bowls-get-86ed/rss

Note that until 2006 (when the schedule usually consisted of 11 games), a
winning record (then 6-5) was required, and wins over I-AA teams only
counted in one of every four seasons (starting in 2006, you could count one
per year).

Much like the 9 game Big Ten slate (scheduled to begin later this decade) I
agree that upping the bowl requirement to 7-5 will be a good thing for the
game as a whole but likely bad for Northwestern, specifically. But, I
would still support it (along with the "Plus One"/4 team playoff, which
I've supported for some time) as I think those in combination would greatly
increase the value of the CFB postseason.
