[NU Sports] Big win for now and future.

Willie,
I think we have realistic shot to get in with win over Gophers, but two W's would certainly be a lot safer. It will depend on what happens at other tournaments. We need "chalk" to win -- I.e., upsets are bad for NU, as tourney champs would get the auto invites and regular season champs would eat up the at-large slots.

Carmody just said on WGN postgame that before the game, on way over from hotel, Curletti banged his head on a low elevator overhang and it was thought he might not even play.
Lucky all the way through...from Curletti being available, to Iowa's first-half missed FTs @ home to the Sobolewski rebound of the shot off the bottom the rim.
Cats earned this and had good luck. They battled back from a bad start and have now swept the Iowa Hawkeyes and Penn State Nittany Lions this year, with two ridiculously tense road wins.
On to the tourney, I mean the Big Ten tourney. :)
Two more wins are probably what will be needed for the first-ever NCAA bid. Will NOT be easy. Minnesota and Michigan up next. Cats showed this year that they can play with both of those teams.

For once fortune smiled on us at the end. Better sometimes to be lucky...

A glimpse at how Cobb can play when he's healthy and confident, as Crawford was today, too. Balanced effort.
Wow - offensive rebounds! And what big FTs by Sobo.
And OH SO, SO FORTUNATE! Gotta have healthy hearts to make it through these. Hope's alive. :) _______________________________________________
