[NU Sports] ND Snags Top QB Recruit

Anyone remember Jimmy Clausen, who supposedly would become the greatest
quarterback in history when he committed to Notre Dame? The #1 recruit in
the nation, he announced his college committment in front of the College
Football Hall of Fame after arriving in a stretch Hummer. He never really
amounted to much at ND, had about a half of a decent season one year -- but
his untapped "potential" led the Carolina Panthers to draft him in the 2nd
round two years ago. Injuries made him a temporary starter for the 2010
Panthers team that went 2-14. The following offseason the Panthers drafted
Cam Newton and Clausen was made third-string.

Point being, no one thinks Gunner Kiel is anywhere near the talent Jimmy
Clausen was. Good luck, Notre Dame, with yet another whiny overconfident
QB.
