Who was that red-faced guy with the pitchfork I just saw skiing by???? {:>)
After four years of hard work, Luka will be rewarded by getting a lot more
pine time. Curletti is hardly the prototypical Big Ten center, but right
now he is playing more aggressively than Mircovic and appears to be stronger
and more athletic. The announcers during the Michigan game claimed that
Carmody was "experimenting" with the "smaller" lineup but could not use it
all season. To the contrary, I believe Mr. Bill has finally realized that
the Cats cannot and will not win with Mircovic at center. I don't know if
they'll win with Curletti in that position either, but right now he is the
better man for the job. As Alan remarked, you can thank him for the
Michigan State win.
On a historical note, Kyle Rowley is averaging 4.7 minutes, 1.2 points, and
1.1 rebounds a game for St. Mary's, and it appears that most of that came in
the pre-season. I watched the first half of one of St. Mary's conference
games, and the only time he rose from the bench was during timeouts and to
return to the locker room at halftime. It does not appear that he is
injured. Carmody really missed the basketball mark with that young man, and
so did the Gaels coach, it seems.
Next season, Bill, you HAVE to have a quality center in the lineup.
