[NU Sports] Two words for the Oklahoma State boosters

Iowa State was an OT road game with extenuating circumstances. OSU played a tougher schedule than Bama, won their league and deserved a shot. I think they'd have gotten pounded by LSU, but they deserved the shot more. Bama failed to win their own division or league. 'Nuff said.
As for why no one complains in college basketball when a 3rd place team wins it all without winning the league, again, it goes back to having a chance to prove it ON THE COURT.
There is no sport where the playoffs give you the most deserving champion every time -- but when the unbeaten Pats lose in the Super Bowl to a team they already beat or a 4-seed wins the NCAA tourney, no one really complains that much because everyone had a chance to prove it on the court at the end of the year.
Here, OSU, Boise, Oregon, Wisconsin and others were at the mercy of pollsters who sway whatever way ESPN's windy and yammering announcers blow (and man did they blow last night!) and a mix of computers.
It's especially cruel in college football because the big leagues rarely play each other anymore. You used to have a bunch of big battles in September between league powers, but with the B(C)S not rewarding that anymore, it's cupcake city. So when you get the SEC playing only SEC teams along with Troy and Georgia Southern ... then playing SEC teams in title games ... you never even give other leagues a shot.
Go back to pre-BCS, go forward to playoff but please please please end this "worst of both worlds" system of meaningless exhibition games in front of half empty stadiums and decreasing television audiences. The B(C)S is killing college football.
GO CATS!!!

PS - I enjoyed the Rose Bowl too, Brad -- it's amazing what happens when you get a Big Ten/Pac 12 champ traditional matchup in Pasadena ... and a couple other bowls were entertaining, but on a whole the ratings dropped, attendance was at a historic low and I really can't say that I watched/enjoyed more than 4-5 games. The Rose, Fiesta, Outback ... some of the Sugar ... and ... and ... and ... zzzzzzzzzzzz.

Iowa State.
To me that ends the discussion. Alabama's loss was to LSU, OSU's to the Cyclones. End of discussion.
I could live with a conference-winner only rule but for those who hold the NCAA hoops tourney sacred, there have been plenty of times it was won by a non-conference champ. Why is that wonderful in hoops but so awful in football?
I dislike the BCS myself but I want a return to the pre-BCS system of the 1980's.
I would note though that this year's BCS games were on the whole entertaining and well worth watching. But SJT tells me it sucks so I guess I didn't enjoy the Rose, Fiesta, or Sugar Bowls and the Orange was enjoyable in a weird way (how bad could Clemson get?).
Throw in fun games from Detroit to Dallas and beyond and I enjoyed the bowl season a lot.
But I am told it all sucks because some people didn't see the mythical national championship (which I really don't care about) they wanted to, so I guess I didn't enjoy myself watching CFB the last month. Oh well.
