[NU Sports] My last thoughts on the Meineke Bowl....

1. A&M has spawned a long list of Aggie Jokes. I won't bore you with them, but some are
very funny. The most telling is:

What do you call an Aggie after 5 years? Boss!

2. One of the reasons the NCAA tightened the screws on off season jobs was a QB for A & M.
He had a 16 hour a week part time job working the trouble desk for an oil company in
Dallas.

They gave him a Z car as a company car so he could get to work, and he didn't have to come
in every weekend. When he did come in, he spent most of the time studying since they
already had guys to sit the trouble desk.

3. One of the smartest guys I ever knew was an A & M Grad who was also a Cryptologic
Maintenance Chief Petty Officer named Noble Hetherington. Noble had business card that
read; "Noble Heatherington, Noted Authority and Unimpeachable Source. Those who think they
know everything are particularly bothersome to those of us who do." (Really, I used to
have that business card)

He was a Special Security Alarm system Guru and made a lot of money. He used to wear his
Aggie belt buckle with his Navy Uniform, in accordance with Navy Regulations, that allowed
such things.

Of course he may have had us all fooled....

4. In the 1990's, Aggies got to be known as "Agro-Americans" because they were always
upset about something that had happened in Austin.

5. The Aggie Yell Leaders used to cheer, "Hey, Hey, That's OK, You'll all work for Us some
day," and meant it.

6. At one time, A & M used to recruit 11 guys from the Corps of Cadets to be the kickoff
team at home games. They were nuts, and made returning a kickoff pretty hard since they
actually followed the game plan every time.

7. OK, one more Aggie joke.

Dear Abbie,
I just met a wonderful girl and want to get married, but my family might have a problem
that could keep us apart.

My Father is a notorious bootlegger in our home county, and is currently in
Huntsville Prison serving 2-5 for running liquor.

My Mother used to be the #1 girl in the Best Whorehouse in Texas, but she made so
much money she bought the place, and runs it to this day.

My Sister is the lead dancer at the #1 "gentleman's club" in Dallas.

My one brother plays piano in my mother's whorehouse.

And my other brother graduated from Texas A & M University.

My problem is, should I tell my future bride about my brother who graduated from A & M?

Gotta have a sense of humor when you work in East Texas....

Go Cats.
