Paul,

You said what we all are thinking. We all want it so bad; I get goosebumps thinking about the moment the Cats name comes up on Selection Sunday. And one more thing- it will be story #1 in Chicago, re-affirming our Cats as Chicago's Big 10 team!

GO CATS!! Eric

have to make one observation here. I don't think, in all my years on the
ist, that I have ever seen such a continuous "conversation" about basketball.
es, we have had our moments, but generally, it is football that consumes most
f us and generates the most "buzz" on the List.
However, being on the "cusp of history", has brought out the
nalyses--big-time--as we fret and speculate about the possibilty of our beloved
Cats entering the Promised Land after 70 years of wandering in the desert.
t's a beautiful thing, and if somehow we can communally celebrate on Selection
unday, it would be amazing. I can't put out of my mind the vision of our team,
oach Carmody and about 4,000 or so students rejoicing at Welsh-Ryan after NU's
utative "bid" is confirmed and our "bracket" is posted, while the "Talking
eads" at CBS and ESPN ruminate on NU's historic journey. It will--at least for
e--be a moment unlike any other, except when we made the Rose Bowl.
I know I shouldn't even utter these words out loud, let alone post them
ere--but I just can't help myself. It's too exciting a prospect to cast aside.
Our time is now. So seize the moment, Mr. Carmody, Mr. Shurna, Mr. Crawford,
r. Sobolewski, Mr. Hearn, Mr. Marcotullio, Mr. Cobb, Mr. Corletti and crew--and
oin Mr. Barnett, Mr. Fitzgerald, Mr. Autry, Mr. Schnur and their teammates in
he Pantheon of 'Cat fame and accomplishment.
Go 'Cats!

That is an interesting breakdown and one not discussed much. I agree with

On another note, is there any update on whether Luka will play at least a few
nutes in the Big Ten tourney? We could use a few extra minutes and fouls down

that all of the unranked teams except NU and UNL had eight games against
 ranked teams.

 Illinois - 4 home 4 road
 Purdue - 4 home 4 road
 Iowa - 4 home 4 road
 Minny - 4 home 4 road
 Nebraska - 4 home 3 road
 NU - 3 home 4 road
 PSU - 3 home 5 road

This still remains a little bit simplistic because the rankings do
change through the year, but I think that the overall premise holds. As
long as the BT continues to produce good teams that are nationally
ranked at the top of the conference, that means that those teams in the
middle of the conference are going to end up with RPI's strong enough to
get them invited to the dance every year.

Not necessarily, the Big Ten doesn't play a double RR schedule, so
some teams might only have one game against a ranked team, not
 necessarily home/home games.
