I'm not sure how they handle the scheduling, but I suspect there's more flexibility to move things around year-to-year than in some other sports. 

This year's home schedule laid out really well. I believe there were three more home games than last year, and this late-season five-game home stand really set up nicely, with top-flight opponents, a couple of night games, and good weekend slots.
