[NU Sports] What's the mood this week?

A group prayer would be nice. The sermon today is "...imagine a world in which our defense allows less points than what our offense scores". Speaking of which, we get DeNardo back as well as Arnold and Ellis; both who're expected to play alot.
I look for McCall to open the playbook and throw out everything and the kitchen sink. No question, this is a "circle" game; revenge, position in standing, momentum...it has it all for both clubs. I like that this game is turning into a rivalry game; I'm starting to hold almost...almost as much contempt for Illinois that I do for Ioa and Alvarez's son in Madison. I like the jawin' going on . Makes for good theatre. As a representative non-alum on our list, i have no problem what Fitz says about his players. They are special; to play Division 1 and endure the grind of an Ivy League-like school has to be tough. Not everyone can do it. Just like West Point, who have special players.
But it all comes down to winning games. Both schools are better; its more fun when they're better at the same time. We go for 7 out of 9 against Ill-noise. What kind of Cat fan picks his team to lose against our in-state rival? Not this one! Git 'er done Danny Boy! Stop the run, D!!! Cats 31- Ill-noise 24.
GO CATS!! Eric

I'm going to have to depend on the rest of you guys this weekend. I
ill be at a church function all day Saturday and won't have access to
he internet. The good news is that I will be able to add some
piritual support to the effort.
That said, this is the beginning of our Persa season.
If he goes well, we will do well.
If he struggles, we will struggle.
I think that Illinois can be beat, and the old Persa could have done it.
We'll find out whether how the new Persa compares to the old on
aturday.
Jeff

, too, am nervous--don't know about optimistic, as there as so many
ariables here. Will Persa and his receivers (especially Ebert) have
he timing necessary to connect regularly, so we maintain possession and
ept the defense off the field for long stretches? The key to the game
ill be in the trenches--where we had all kinds of problems against
rmy.
Our "O" Line has to step up big-time on Saturday, so that (a) Persa has
ufficient time to pick out secondary receivers and to find his rhythm
nd get his "sea legs" under him, especially early in the game and (b)
o our running backs can get consistent yardage. Does anyone know if
donis is back for this game? His speed and agility were sorely missed
t West Point.
Second, our "D" Line needs to make sure that the Illini don't run and
un and run all day, like the Wrigley game. If we slow down their
unning attack, we will win.
Third, our "D" Backs need to prevent "big plays" that will get the home
rowd into the game. It seems to me (at least watching on the tube)
hat the Illinois crowds will sometimes turn on their team quickly, if
hey don't get off to a good start, and they are not the most vocal fans
n the conference in any event.
I intend on watching the game at Buffalo Wild Wings in Stamford, CT with
loyal cohort of 'Cat fans, some of whom were at the Army game.
opefully, we will have many "Purple Shots" and will be singing "Go U
orthwestern" after a plethora of scores.
Go 'Cats! Persa Strong!

'm curious to know how everyone else feels about the upcoming game. I'm
oth
rvous and optimistic. I think Persa's return could be the spark that we
eed
get the offense clicking. Illinois is 4-0, but I think it's a winnable
ame.
ming off the bye week I want to see a lot more energy from the team.
o Cats!
