Well, here's one way you look at this:

 

The Cats have now played two games, and everyone we play has the benefit of watching those
two games.

 

If you are going to defense the Cats, you first have to stuff the O-Line and take away the
over guard rushes, then you have to spy Coulter and keep him contained.  Army runs a
defense that can appear to be a 3-4, but show a 4-3 or 5-2 at times. They take away the
outside with two smaller, but quick outside linebackers (whip and quick) and have the
Rover, a LB/FS who fills in the holes.

 

I didn't see the game, but it sounded like Army ran a lot of really good man coverage and
got pressure on Coulter.

 

To Siemians' credit, he apparently figured out Army's coverage well enough to complete the
passes at the end of the game, but then Army was probably in "prevent" making sure the
receivers didn't get behind them.

 

Now that the Big 10 has video of NU losing, I'd expect more Army style defense against NU,
and until we shut it down, they other guys are going to run, run, and then run some more -
at least until we stop them.

 

And, IMHO, Nebraska's variation of the option is going to give us fits, altho they don't
set up in a wishbone.

Holding Army to 21 points was probably an acceptable defensive performance.

The concern has to be that two weeks ago, a Northern Illinois team that got walloped by
the Badgers rung up 49 ponts in beating this Army team by 23.

Assuming that Persa plays against Illinois, it's hard to say what to expect from someone
who hasn't played a live down in almost 11 months.

Seems that Hank and Fitz had a pretty good idea about how hard it would be to stop Army.

We probably don't want to play Navy, with their Spread Option attack, either.
