I think the 16-team conferences are a mistake. That being said, is there any guarantee that Penn State stays in the Big Ten? I have more or less assumed that no one would want to leave, but if the Pitt and Syracuse rivalries plus Maryland are to be found in the ACC, PSU might be tempted - especially if they could bring Rutgers and land the New York market.

I think the Big Ten still needs to stand pat for now unless those Horns or Irish come calling. You gotta think West Virginia and the rest of the Big East and TCU are scrambling right now ... and if they lose their home league for other sports, Notre Dame may even have to take notice.
