[NU Sports] Disheartening

You must have a short memory.
The Miami loss was the second game of the '95 season after the team shocked ND. Virtually all of the starters on an upperclassman-heavy team played the whole game. They pretty much controlled the game and lost on a late blocked punt that Miami turned into a score. This team went on to win the big ten and be ranked as high as #3 in the country. This loss prevented a perfect regular season and the potential to play for a national championship. It was the best season since the Otto Graham years.
The loss this week to Army was picked by many as a potential upset. We were starting a rookie QB with a hurt shoulder. The Army D was daring us to pass, but Coulter couldn't complete anything. Army time of possession was ridiculous. By the end of the game our D was gassed. We still hung in there and had our chances, but just didn't have the experience at QB to pull it off.
I'm disappointed, but not surprised. Hopefully Persa is on the field for Illinois and Coulter's shoulder feels better or else you are likely to see a similar game.
As far as the worst loss, clearly Miami is it at least for the regular season until NU has another one loss season. Unfortunately I don't think this season will be one of those.
Jeff

We scored 14 points against Army? How is that possible? OK, I get the difficulties of the triple option. But we couldn't score against that defense? They outplayed us. This is worse the Miami of Ohio loss in '95.
