The HBO channels here shows lots of commercials, for HBO and Cinemax, and 
for assorted PPV options.  No, it isn't for products like Coca-Cola (yet), 
but then they never used to show commercials at the movie theatre, either,
and now they're on many DVDs, and sometimes next to impossible to bypass!

I also suspect HBO has a not-insignificant 'product placement' revenue 
stream from its made-for-TV movies.

The 'ala carte' approach to cable or satellite pricing, which some of our 
Congresscritters may try to force upon us, will almost certainly increase 
our costs and cable company revenue.
