> Getting back to the 'Cats, was it just me, or was anyone else intrigued by the down-the-stretch running of Tyris Jones (No. 34).
I think I wrote about him here after he had a good outing in one of the spring or fall scrimmages -- probably last year. I was excited by the same things--he's big, and runs hard. I actually thought he might get more playing time this year than he has, as I recall the coaches speaking highly of him prior to the season. I was happy to see him get some work this afternoon, but from watching him today, I'm guessing he just doesn't quite have the speed to the hole to be a regular, or earn a spot ahead of the other RBs. I think he is a regular on special teams though, and he did catch a TD pass against Eastern this year (after dropping one earlier).
He was actually featured on TV last week--can't remember if it was the Fitzgerald show or the BTN Tailgate 48 show (the latter, I think), but the focus was on just how busy he is off the field--heading up FMO, serving as VP at his fraternity. He came across as a great kid (like so many NU players do).
> We really need Tyler Scott back in the lineup. He is one of the only true playmakers on D who gives me the feeling that he can stop whatever the opposition tries to do.
Agree big time. We're pretty bad on D *with* him (and McNaul), but we're *really* in trouble without him. And he seemed to be getting better each week.
I'd love to see the upset next week, as it would really give us a chance at finishing the year up strong.
