Rutgers has a dynamic Coach, Greg Schiano, who is a fantastic recruiter. And it would really bring in the NYC Metro Area Market for BTN and the conference in general. It is not an ideal fit with the Big Ten, but has some definite plusses. And NYC has tons of Big Ten alums, especially from NU, Michigan, Wisconsin and Indiana The likely alternative, if the Domers ever opt in, would be Maryland, which brings in D.C. and Bal'more.

Like it or not, Notre Dame is still the brass ring. If the school itself
s finally willing (they've walked away from multiple deals in the past),
ow their NBC deal works into the equation will be the final sticking point.

And will Rutgers come along too?
And will anyone care, even in New Jersey?
The only reason to bring in a Rutgers-like school is to maintain
ompetitive balance, bring in one 'big name' program (even if it is one
hat has been on the outs for a decade or more) and one 'also-ran' program
hat other schools can feed upon.
Rutgers in the Big Ten makes even less sense than West Virginia in
he Big 12, and that's probably going to happen in the next few days.
