Scot, I was just finishing my thoughts below when I received your mail. And I'm going to take my kids to the pumpkin patch today.

> I received a mail from a close frat brother who, agonized by yesterdays game, announced that he would watch no more games this year. It was too painful. I replied I would be only a step behind.
>
> But my game day experience belied my statement. Because as I watched yesterday I was already transported to the dark ages. I will watch again. But it will be different. It was already different last night.
>
> As I watched my beloved cardiac Cats make their long field goal to tie the score at 17, i did not jump from my chair or pump my fist has i have for the past 11 years, win or lose. My sad first thought was that it didnt really matter. That the score Would only serve to wake up the Hawks to ratchet it up some more and just keep outscoring us.
>
> I didn't really get excited at any time during the game. It was as if an out of body experience. Interesting view. I did appreciate Colter's ability as well as Ebert's, but they might have well have been playing for the Hawks.
>
> And at least I didn't get sick about it as has so often be the case. I Guess some team has to be at the bottom......
>
> For me now it's kind of like being cheated on by some honky Tonk woman. At some point it stops hurting...and you just stop feeling.
