Imagine the waiver request they'd have to write:

"Yes, our coach sucks and we're firing him, and we're pretty sure we're about to get waxed in a conference title game that we really shouldn't be participating in to begin with, but please give us a waiver so that we can go to a bowl game with our fabulous new coach (TBD). Whoever he is, we're sure our new coach will be better than the guy we're firing now, who had 3 whole years to prove himself, or the guy we fired before that, who only led us to one 10 win season, and the guy we fired before that, who only won 2 Pac 10 championships".
