[NU Sports] There may be ...

At least Cousins got his record breaker...

But for the first 10 minutes it seemed like NU was playing both MSU and the Refs. Then the
refs stopped calling stuff because MSU was doing things that should have been flagged, and
you can't flag the division winner, can you....

The real icing on the cake was the 2 successive offsides penalties on MSU's tackle. When
he came back in, I half expected Persa to run a hard count again for another 5 and maybe
that would have helped?

But we really need a bowl where Persa can run up the score and Schmidt can run up some
yards and the young guys can run up some experience for next year.

When we went from taking the lead into a 3-17 hole, I knew we were in deep doo-doo.
All the deserved criticism of Sparty having a yellow streak has evaporated under
D'Antonio, and
Michigan St's QB is a gamer. He took advantage of player-personnel decisions and executed
well in the rain. I don't think we played bad (except for the end of the 2nd Q.), but MSU
played a little better. Still, another good November. Regardless where they end up, I
think we'll match up well and finally break our bowl drought. Texas A&M could be a
problem, but Cal? Toledo? Rutgers? NC ST? We FINALLY may be matched against someone we
can handle; a big switch from years gone by.

Just a "PS"...Not condoning 6-6 earning a bowl, but these are the rules and it beats
the hell out of how our season was going. We will not be playing the 1940 Army Cadets or
the 1969 USC Trojans in our bowl. GO CATS!!! Eric

... better coaches in the land than Mark Dantonio at Xs and Os or script
planning or motivation.

But I don't think any coach around understands momentum as well as MSU's head
coach.

He knows just when to call a fake punt or fake FG or timeout for a runback, etc.
And he did a nice job of waiting on exploiting our newbie corner until the right
moment. Everyone in the stadium, including the announcers, expected him to throw
right away at #15, but he waited until the right moment.

Ugh - we dominated 90% of that half and then got blitzed at the end.

Hopefully we take the opening drive right down and make a game of it again.

GO CATS!!!
