Don't know if it will impact us, but the University of Miami (the one
in Florida) opted out of a bowl game this year because of pending NCAA
violations, hoping to beat the NCAA to the punch on sanctions.
Closer to home, Penn State and Ohio State have both said that they will
NOT opt out of a bowl game this year. It may take a year or longer before
the NCAA even has a hearing on any possible violations of NCAA bylaws
against Penn State, much less announces any possible sanctions.
It is unlikely that the NCAA will come out with sanctions against Ohio
State before bowl bids come out in under two week. Which means that if
they are penalized with a bowl ban, which some writers think unlikely,
even fewer of those responsible for the sanctions will be around to
be affected by them.
