You might be right, Dennis.  I think that the TV announcers said that it's been 
43 years since the Cats had a winning record in the Big Ten!

Ranking wise, LSU was the weakest of the three opponents, but they ended up 2-1 
in the tournament, and the other 2 are in the 50s, according to Sagarin.  A huge 
upgrade from last year's preseason schedule.  Hopefully that will help toughen 
the team up.

I can't recall Northwestern ever winning a pre-season tournament, nor can I 
remember ever being able to watch the tournament in which they were 
participating on TV.  They played sound basketball but against mid-level teams.  
The Big Ten will be much tougher.  There is hope, but I'm still not going to get 
excited until I see "Northwestern" on the NCAA bracket.  Maybe I should go back 
to school because my senior year was the last time they had a winning record in 
the Big Ten.
