[NU Sports] After this week's games ...

If 'Cats beat MSU next week--a huge task--and OSU loses to Mich. and the Zookers lose to Minny, we will have better record at 7-5 than Bucks and Illinim. And we will be 4-4 in conference.

I know some will be unhappy with that, but given where we were a month ago, I will be ecstatic. By the way, Illini are now 2-5 in conference, while Bucks are 3-4, same as NU.

Subject: [NU Sports] After this week's games ...

... you have to wonder if the people who wanted PSU punished last week shouldn't have been arguing FOR playing the game.

With a week's distance to gather their thoughts after the chaos, PSU's players seem to be playing their best game of the year in Columbus today on offense.
And Nebraska didn't look too good today in the Big House.

Whoever wins next week in Madison, it should be a pretty good inaugural title game.

Coming down to PSU/Wisky on the east side is not much of a surprise and the scheduling works out perfectly (and gives us an example of how having a playoff would NOT take away from the regular season -- the games these past couple weeks have been every bit as meaningful as the race has shaped up ... and next week's game in Camp Randall will be as big as it gets with a title game berth on the line ... plus now you have a playoff after those games to decide a champ on the field for Pasadena instead of leaving it up to tiebreaks and who's been to Pasadena most recently).

The Sparty side is a bit of a surprise ... I didn't think MSU would have the mental toughness to make it through the year, but they appear to be fueled after being the odd man out last year and on a mission. As for Nebraska, I'm not sure whether it's the Huskers being a bit overrated or the adjustment of having to play a Big Ten schedule week in and week out (and a pretty tough schedule at that) ... but much like PSU's 1993 entry into the league, the experts were wrong about the new kid coming in to dominate the rest on the block. Of course, PSU stormed back with a vengeance in 1994, so maybe the Huskers will be on a roll next year.

PSU-MSU would be a renewal of a somewhat decent rivalry and MSU-Wisky would be Hail Mary II and lots of bad blood. Should be fun!

GO CATS!!!
