> It should be quite a ride to January.
The Cunard line used to advertise, "Getting there is half the fun".
I have my suspicion that this year the journey to the 'national championship'
game will be far more interesting than the game itself, almost no matter
who eventually plays in it. (Right now I don't really care who plays or
who wins.)
It has been a frenetic 24 hours in sports. Every time the 'breaking news'
banner comes up on ESPN I flinch, thinking "now what??"
The Oklahoma State tragedy, the Syracuse situation, Paterno's lung cancer,
baseball's handshake deal (wassamatta with you NBA people??) and now
the BCS is in turmoil.
BTW, did people catch the ESPN story about how the BCS is thinking
of switching to just a #1 vs #2 deal, letting the other bowls do their
own thing? That may be precursor to going to a +1 championship game
or even a final 4 playoff. TV would pay BILLIONS for that!
I guess we'll never know just how much the OSU tragedy affected the
team, but I can say from years of experience in the Big 8 and Big 12
that Iowa State has been the fly in the ointment more than a few time,
even if this their first-ever win against a #2 team in 19 tries.
And they still have two games left against currently-rated teams!
Who knows what strange things will happen tomorrow?
"Tomorrow we'll discover what our God in heaven has in store!"
