Yes, it is the dream ... and the nightmare (because it all but assures a rematch for the title - either Quackers get beat up by LSU on Tiger Turf or Bama and LSU get to kick field goals for a yawner again).
The perfect storm scenario would have LSU losing -- hopefully to UGa, because if Petrino's Piggies did it, his ego would threaten to engulf the entire mid section of the nation).
But it really just shows that the Little XII is overrated by the computers every year. They're fun to watch with all the offense (or all the lack of defense), but they're just not in a league with the SEC or Big Ten. I'm sure UNL fans would agree that their road week in and week out this year is much tougher than it was in recent years.
And, of course, it shows once again what an awful system the B(C)S is. They have lucked out a couple years with only two unbeatens and a clear 1 vs. 2 game -- but most years there's just too much controversy over who is the #2 team deserving of a shot to take the "title" game seriously. DEATH TO THE B(C)S!
On the plus side, this is probably good news for the Big Ten in their quest for two B(C)S bids (and hence good news for NU's bowl hopes if we can win tomorrow) ... the loser of OU/OSU, while no doubt still ranked in the top 3 by the computers, will probably drop pretty low in the polls -- and if it's Okie State at 10-2, with no real quality wins and few fans to fill seats, a 10-2 Nebraska team or 10-2 Michigan is looking better and better. Also, because the Bedlam winner won't be going to the title game, that means the Fiesta has gets the winner and would drool over an Oklahoma/Nebraska nostalgia game. Sure beats Okie State/Stanford in front of 20,000 empty seats.
So now we just gotta beat those Gophers tomorrow and watch the chaos slowly chip away at the last shreds of credibility for the B(C)S.
GO CATS!!!
