Meh. Considering that most schools actually lose money overall on bowl trips, wouldn't it be more of a punishment to make them go? I also like the idea of the revenue going towards charities that help children, so the school would lose even more money. It might be better than some empty "statement" that wouldn't help anyone in any tangible way -- except, perhaps, make all of us feel better about ourselves (which, in the end, seems to be the main thing that Brennan is driving at in this column).
