The taxpayers of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania might have a different
opinion on that issue, because any damages assessed to Penn State will
eventually, one way or another, be paid out of the state treasury.
It's fine for the New York Times, among others, to propose grandiose
steps, it's a lot different for those whose lives would be impacted
by those steps.
I don't recall the New York Times being willing to cease publication
for a few months when it had a writer who was fired for falsifying stories.
And the NY TImes has hid behind the Sullivan decision MANY MANY times.
