[NU Sports] 2011 Bowl Projections

Interesting article - I've also seen us projected for Boise and Albuquerque ...

Right now, we just need to win and let everything fall where it does. Good to see some people are starting to see the attractiveness of the Big Ten for an at-large bid over Okie State or Stanford ... it does appear that Boise will still get an automatic bid if they win out, though, as they didn't even fall out of the top 10 ... while the computers are still dragging the Big Ten teams waaaaay down.

Beat Minnesota!
GO CATS!!!

Teddy Greenstein and I must have been on the same wavelength today, as he has an article (online tomorrow; in tomorrow's print edition of the Trib) speculating on the 'Cats bowl possibilities, as well as on Big Ten bowl questions in general:  http://www.chicagotribune.com/sports/college/ct-spt-1115-big-ten-bowls--20111115,0,5875145.story

ow that we have bowl eligibility in our sights, I broke down and started
esearching online projections, as I did last year (when we broke through much
arlier).
Here's a site that is picking us for the Gildan New Mexico Bowl in Albequerque
n Dec. 17 vs. Wyoming:  http://www.sbnation.com/ncaa-football/2011/11/14/2560547/college-bowl-projections-predictions-2011-week-12
f course, I never even heard of this bowl before--have any of you?
ESPN splits its predictions "ballot", with one vote putting us in NYC at the New
ra Pinstripe Bowl vs. Rutgers (which might work for me, as I will be returning
rom vacation earlier that day), while the other places us in New Orleans at the
+L Carriers Bowl.  In the latter we are predicted to face Arkansas State, and
f that ever came to pass, and if we didn't get off the "schneid" and get our
irst bowl win since 1949, then I guess we are fated to never get another one.

CBSSPORTS.com has this interesting match-up:  NU v. Cal in the Kraft Fight
unger Bowl in San Francisco on December 31st.  That game would literally be a
ome game for the Golden Bears, as they are playing their "home" games this
eason at AT&T Park, since their stadium is undergoing renovations.

I don't like this one, as it has us going nowhere:  http://collegebowlprojections.com/ncaa-college-football-bowl-predictions/
Isn't this fun?
I just hope I haven't fatally jinxed Fitz and his "young men" by posting this
nformation, but I find these bowl projections fascinating, especially when NU
s arguably in the mix.  And after last night's J-E-T-S trainwreck vs. the
atriots, I need the 'Cats to cheer me up with hope and inspiration.:-)
