[NU Sports] I may not be right about a lot of things ...

SJT,
I think your Motor City pick of Illinois is very shaky at this point. The Illini are as likely to lose 6 straight to end their season 6-6 as we are to win 5 straight to end ours with 7-5 mark. Yes, I know we have to beat Minny (at home) and, of course Sparty. But our curve is up, while the Illini are dazed and demoralized and toothless with the ball, and face Wisky (at least as tough an opponent as MSU) and Gophers in St. Paul). Purdue, of course is a big factor here as well. They worry me more at this point than the Zookers, as they now seem to be a team of destiny.

FYI, two reps from the Gator were at our game this afternoon.

Not sure what the announced crowd was, but that probably didn't help.  But Jim
Phillips is a Class A lobbyist.

... but I was certain Oregon would beat Stanford for months. I have the same
certainty that Oklahoma will beat Okie State. I have no idea why the B(C)S
computers or media continue to try and prop these leagues and their leaders up
as power leagues.

I guess that means I have to hope Petrino's Piggies can upset LSU for a total
B(C)-MESS chaos then!

It might be interesting to see whether they push Oklahoma up to avoid a rematch
of LSU-Oregon or LSU-Bama, but it still just shows how much we need a playoff.

Line of the night from my friend in Madison: Boise is the new Wide Right school.
Poor Broncos.
Worst lines of the night: Musburger trashing Stanford's receivers and line at
every turn, making every excuse for Luck possible instead of admitting that Phil
Simms is right.

So what does that do to the bowl picture? Well, it might not be as good of news
as we thought for the Big Ten - because Boise will still likely get a B(C)S
berth. The non-AQ schools get an automatic bid if they are in the top 12 of the
standings (tough to see Boise dropping out of the top 10 or Houston doing so)
... or top 16 if they're ranked ahead of an AQ (bring in an unranked 7-5 Big
Least team!). So this week's guesses ...

TITLE: LSU vs. Alabama - The rematch no one wanted outside of the SEC media
bubble
ROSE: Oregon vs. Wisconsin - Speed vs. Power and a good matchup for the Big Ten
SUGAR: Boise State vs. Oklahoma State - A fun backyard-style game
ORANGE: Clemson vs. Big East TBA (really, just hold a free throw shooting
contest or game of Risk to decide this mess)
FIESTA: Oklahoma vs. Stanford - Perhaps the two most overrated preseason teams?

It's a tough call who gets left out, as Nebraska probably brings more than Okie
State or Stanford ... and you know the Orange would love to work out a deal to
dump their Big Least team for the Huskers, or the Fiesta would love to pit the
Sooners and Huskers against each other ... we'll see what type of deals get
worked out

CITRUS: Nebraska vs. Georgia - The Citrus would love to grab the Huskers here
and Georgia's on fire lately (Arkansas probably heads to the Cotton)
OUTBACK: Michigan State vs. South Carolina - A matchup of two teams desperately
trying to get into the upper echelon of their leagues
INSIGHT: Michigan vs. Texas - This bowl has moved up to get a big-name matchup
like this
GATOR: Penn State vs. Florida - Big names but subpar teams
HOUSTON: Ohio State vs. Texas A&M - Another big-name matchup, these two are
inconsistent
DALLAS: Iowa vs. Missouri - Hawkeyes travel better than Illini, Purdue or NU
MOTOR CITY: Illinois vs. Northern Illinois - Can't they just move the game to
Chicago?

Hoping for openings (or a second B(C)S selection at this point): Purdue and
Northwestern

Does this mean we have to - gulp - hope the Irish beat the Treez in a couple
weeks? We gotta get that second B(C)S team!

But first, BEAT MINNESOTA!!!

GO CATS!!!
